CELEBRATE CARIBBEAN CULTURE WEEK

FEBRUARY 22ND THROUGH 28TH

 

The Arts, Culture and Enterprise Project, Inc., (ACE) a not-for-profit organization will host Caribbean Culture Week™ 2007 from February 22nd through February 28th. Caribbean Culture Week™ collaborations will take place at venues across the city. Venues include Savacou Gallery, Caribbean Cultural Center, and Blue Mahoe restaurant in Manhattan, Gabrielle’s restaurant and Caribbean Island restaurant in the Bronx, Clipper’s restaurant in Queens, Nazareth Regional High School, Caribbean American Weekly and the Flatbush Library in Brooklyn. A cultural expo and family style variety concert will take place on Saturday, February 24th from 5pm-10pm at Nazareth Regional High School. According to Barbara Gil, Assistant-Principal of Academics, “We have a large Caribbean student body here at Nazareth and are pleased to be a part of the Caribbean Culture Week of activities.” Students, their family as well as the community, are encouraged to come out and support local artists like Rob Simeonn, Ed Robinson, Mr. Cool, actor/comedienne Girlie and spoken word artists Ainsley Burrows, Michy B and Infinity who will be among those performing. The celebrations will showcase Caribbean culture through visual artists, performing artists, spoken word artists, authors, as well as entertainers and chefs from across the Caribbean. Restaurants will be offering weeklong specials from their menus.
